McGibson powered to a front-end score in 1:52.1, the fastest mile this year by a 4-year-old pacing mare on a five-eighths-mile track, in Monday's $25,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at The Meadows.
As she did in her victory last week, McGibson vaulted to the lead for Dave Palone, cutting a wicked :26.3 first quarter. That blazing panel did little to tire her, though, as the daughter of McArdle-Armbro Althea fought off the stern, first-over challenge of Tracy’s Song and closed in :28.2 to defeat that rival by a length. Spring Break was a ground-saving third.
Kevin McDermott trains McGibson, who now boasts career earnings of $217,608, for Fran Azur.
Palone, Tony Hall and Brett Miller each drove three winners on the 15-race card. (The Meadows)
