Michigan names best of \'06

Action Figure and Benns Cowboy have been named Michigan\'s 2006 Pacer of the Year and Trotter of the Year, respectively. Michigan Racing Commissioner Christine C. White made the announcement during the Michigan Horse Council\'s International Stallion Expo at the Michigan State University Agriculture Pavilion in East Lansing over the past weekend.

As a 3-year old colt, Action Figure recorded 10 wins, three seconds and two thirds in 18 starts, earning a little more than $150,000. Tim Halstead of Concord and Larry Lyles\' LRL Racing LLC of Grosse Ile are Action Figures owners. His trainer is Marie St. Charles of Whitmore Lake. Bill and Patti Gira bred Action Figure whose sire is Ambro Cadet and dam is Don\'t Toy With Me.

As a 2-year-old colt, Benns Cowboy recorded eight wins, two seconds and two thirds in 12 starts, earning $131,840. Benns Cowboy is owned by Brad Kramer and Tim Hall of Lennon. Kramer also trained and drove Benns Cowboy. Dave Bennett at Bennett Farm in Fremont bred Benns Cowboy. His sire is Lockkeeper and his dam is Another Chip.
