Heavy favorite Mission Brief stepped away from the field turning for home and captured the $352,050 Merrie Annabelle final in a world record-equaling 1:52.2 Saturday at the Meadowlands. Steered by Yannick Gingras, the Muscle Hill filly raised her record to four wins in five starts as Jolene Jolene and Lock Down Lindy rounded out the trifecta.

Enjoying a three-race win streak entering the final, Gingras sent the freshman trotter to the front from post five, clicking off fractions of :28, :56.2 and 1:24.3 for trainer Ron Burke. Lock Down Lindy and Scott Zeron would take a shot at the 1-5 favorite racing into the last turn, but when the field straightened out turning for home it was all over. Mission Brief pulled away with every stride to distance herself from the competition on her way to a world record.

The filly is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Our Horse Cents Stables and J&T Silva Stables. A $150,000 yearling sale purchase, Mission Brief was bred by Steve Stewart, Black Creek Farm and Andrea Lea Racing Stables Inc. With the victory, the freshman now possesses earnings of $255,775. The winning time equals the world record for freshman filly trotters, set by Designed To Be last season at The Red Mile.
