Bouncing Hanover proved to be much the best Thursday evening at Woodbine in the $17,000(C) opening-leg division of the Miss Vera Bars Pacing Series, as the Cam\'s Card Shark bay tallied a four-length victory in a life\'s best 1:54.2.

With pilot Mark MacDonald calling the shots, the John Burns trainee got away fourth from post three and employed the quarter pole move after the marker flashed up in :27.3. Clearing before the half-mile station came to life in :56.4, Bouncing Hanover ($3.30, $2.10, $2.10) would go on to click off the three-quarters timer in 1:26 flat and come home with a :28.2 final quarter.

Simply Mavelous and reinsman Rick Zeron had come first-up on the final turn and finished second, while Bouncing Hanover\'s entrymate, Hazel May (driven by Chris Christoforou) finished third, 6½ lengths in arrears.

With the effort, Bouncing Hanover notched her fourth career victory from her 13th overall start, increasing her bankroll to $44,290 for Burns and fellow owners Peter Leung and Peter Berry.

The Miss Vera Bars--a series for 3-year-old fillies--will contest a second leg on Feb. 8 and a $44,800 (est.)(C) final on Feb. 15. (Woodbine)
