Mohawk stakes, TC jewels in Weekend Preview!
« Return to News
With several starters in stakes events this weekend at Mohawk, Jimmy Takter has a great chance of adding more stakes races to his Hall of Fame resume. Find out why the trainer won't be anywhere near Mohawk and instead be back home in Sweden in the new and free HarnessRacing Weekend Preview.
Before Takter headed overseas, he talked to Gordon Waterstone about his chances with some of his starters, including Always B Miki in the Canadian Pacing Derby, Ocean Colony and Bloodline in the Metro, and Idyllic Beach in the She's A Great Lady.
Also in the She's A Great Lady is That's The Ticket, and trainer Chris Ryder talked to Kathy Parker about his 58-1 upsetter last time out in the elim and what he expects in the final. Also, columnist Andrea Pietrzak caught up with trainer Carl Jamieson, who filled her in on his Metro starters Windsong Napoleon and Bobcat Bound.
We also have the story about Saturday's Yonkers Trot and Messenger Pace finals, jewels of each gait's Triple Crown, at Yonkers Raceway. Eight Ohio Sires Stakes champions will be crowned Saturday at Northfield Park, and while Parker gives an overview of the night, Little Brown Jug PR director Jay Wolf talked to trainer Chris Beaver about his nine—yes, nine!—trotting finalists. As an added bonus, veteran New Jersey lobbyist Leon Zimmerman takes us back to the 1960s when a new racetrack called Jersey Downs was being proposed.
