Moments Of Joy won the Mares Open at Dover Downs on the first race of the new year on Wednesday in 1:51 on a chilly night.
Moments Of Joy left alertly from post five and parked race favorite Reclamation to the quarter. Reclamation cut the mile and was joined by Scuola Hanover, who came first-up past the half and pressured the leader to a :28 flat, third quarter.
Valuable Art took her cue as driver Russell Foster sent her three wide at the three-quarter pole, but Moments Of Joy and driver Victor Kirby, proved to be the pocket rocket, as they maneuvered past Reclamation in the deep stretch with a new lifetime mark of 1:51 flat by a neck. They were the second choice in the wagering.
Moments Of Joy is owned and trained by Bryan Truitt of Selbyville, Del.
Reclamation finished second as the favorite, and was driven by Tim Tetrick for trainer Ron Burke. Delishka N sat the rail and finished third. She was driven by Allan Davis for trainer Wayne Givens.
Driver Tetrick celebrated the New Year in spectacular fashion. Tetrick finished the night with six wins and two seconds out of 10 drives. (Dover)
