Monochromatic returns to Dover's winner's circle

After a two-month absence from the winner's circle, Monochromatic returned to winning form to score a 1:52.3 victory in the $20,000 Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Monday.
Corey Callahan drove Monochromatic into the lead after San Fran Lady N took the field to the quarter in :26.1. From there to the finish line, Monocromatic had to ward off a strong challenge from Yagonnakissmeornot, driven by Ron Pierce, from mid-backstretch until deep in the lane. Monochromatic held on for a 1:52.3 decision. Cooking The Books closed from far back for Allan Davis to best San Fran Lady and Tony Morgan for place money. The victory was the 47th in the career of the Dream Away-Miss Ty 9 year old who now has banked $764.155 for North State Street Stable.
In a $15,000 mares winners-over pace, Air Miles Hanover turned in a stout 1:52.3 victory with Vic Kirby driving for Crawford Partners. The Leigh Raymer-trained Western Ideal-Artaffection daughter won for the fourth time this meet with two additional second and a third to her credit. Lloyd's Lady (Montrell Teague) was runner-up. Rachelle's Beat (Pierce) finished third.
Don Reed and trainer George Wagner's Grandview Hanover made it two in a row and four wins this meet as George Dennis drove the Dragon Again-Gifted Hanover 4 year old to one of his two wins reaching the finish line in 1:53.1. Bonita Rocks (Allan Davis) was second in the $13,000 mares pace.
Owner, trainer, driver Bob Kinsey Jr. drove the longshot of the day, 58-1 Maraculous, a Lis Mara-Thistimeitsforreal mare to a wire-to-wire 1:55.1 score in a $9,000 mares pace. La D Da Hanover (Dennis) and Jemba Jemba (Kirby) were second and third, respectively. (Dover Downs)
