Montini wins 2 to reach 1,000 training wins

Veteran conditioner Anthony Montini sent out a pair of winners Friday night at Mohawk Racetrack to reach a career milestone. Hope For Paddy's eighth race victory gave Montini his 1,000th career training victory.
Montini, 47, entered Friday's card two victories away from the milestone with two horses racing on the card. The Acton, Ont., resident's first starter, Goldies Mach, scored an 8-1 upset in the evening's first race for career win 999.
In the eighth race, 7-year-old pacing mare Hope For Paddy used her back-class to pick up her sixth victory of the season at 6-1 and score her trainer his 1,000th career win. Hope For Paddy has been a consistent performer for Montini over the last few years and fittingly was able to give her trainer his milestone victory.
Montini has been a regular on the WEG Circuit since starting his training career in 1999. His stable has earned at least $500,000 in 14 of the last 15 racing seasons. Montini's career best season came in 2006, when his stable won 115 races and earned $2.5 million. His career earnings total currently sits at over $16 million. This season, Montini has won 16 races and earned over $186,000 from 96 starts. All of his victories this season have been recorded on the WEG Circuit.
