After a one-week hiatus, Mountain Spring N returned to the winner\'s circle afterJimmy Devaux drove the gelding to a come-from-behind triumph in Monticello Raceway's weekly trotting feature, a $9,000 Not Listed Preferred Trot I, on Wednesday afternoon.

In the deep stretch they trotted by favored Zorgwijk Bedeviled and driver Billy Parker Jr. en route to notching the 11-year-old trotter\'s fourth victory of the season.

Mountain Spring N got away fourth but was shuffled back to seventh when the field reached the half-mile stanza in 1:02:2. But once Devaux found some daylight he angled his horse to the outside and then waited until the final turn to move three wide and mount a charge. His efforts were assisted when the pacesetter Nicki's Sister went offstride in the stretch.

Mountain Spring N was full of trot and cruised to the lead and then held off a strong late rally up the passing lane by Zorgwijk Bedeviled.

"We had been racing in $15,000 claimers and I thought we had a good chance today against these today" chirped owner Paul Kasofsky of nearby Liberty NY who currently has five horses competing at the meet. "He's (Mountain Spring N) really sharp and now we've won three of our last four and if we didn't make a break three starts ago there's a good chance we might have been four for four."
