Mr. Muscleman season over

October 07, 2005

Mr. Muscleman has been scratched out of Saturday's $226,000 Allerage Farm Series at The Red Mile and trainer Noel Daley said this morning that the 5-year-old trotter's 2005 season is over.

"He just wasn't good enough today," Daley told harnessracing.com, adding that although he was undecided through the week whether or not to race Mr. Muscleman, he decided to scratch after a morning jog on Friday. "It's been touch and go with him and he's been a little ouchy; he's had a lot of wear and tear."

Daley said that he even had a personal horse masseuse travel from New Jersey this past week and Mr. Muscleman received three massages, but to no avail.

Mr. Muscleman finishes his season with 12 wins and one second in 14 start, earning $1,364,220, the most ever earned by an older gelding in a single season. He won his final two starts last month, capturing the Breeders Crown and Maple Leaf Trot.

"He's had a pretty good year," said Daley with a laugh of the trotter owned by Adam Victor & Son Stable.
