Mr. Pine Chip made his season debut a success, capturing one of the five Pennsylvania Sire Stakes 3-year-old colt and gelding trots in 1:56.2 at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs Sunday.

Trainer Trond Smedshammer was in the bike as the son of SJ’s Caviar collared the pace-setting Adonis B in deep stretch for the three-quarter-length victory.

Last year Mr. Pine Chip won the PASS final and was second in the Breeders Crown final for owners Joe Sbrocco and Southwind Farm.

In the other divisions, Lolique (Tagliabue) picked up his second PASS victory of the year with a 1:55.3 mile for John Wagner; Wyndridge Charles (SJ’s Photo) won for Wilbur Yoder in 1:56.4; Kodac Flash (SJ’s Photo) was a 1:56.4 winner for trainer-driver David Wade; and Samtana Bluestone (SJ’s Caviar) went wire to wire in 1:56.4 for trainer-driver Ray Romanetti.
