Mud Pie Hanover wrested the early lead from Red Star Hottie, then kept her pocketed the rest of the way as she captured Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Pace at The Meadows.
 
After that early tussle for the front, Eric Ledford gave Mud Pie Hanover a second-panel breather in :30. That was all she needed to blaze home in :55.3 and triumph in 1:53, downing Red Star Hottie by 1 1/2 lengths. Crossthreaded finished third.
