The annual yearling sale of horseman Lufti Kolgjini was held Monday night in Sweden and a colt by Muscle Hill set a new Swedish record when he was sold for 3 million Swedish krona. That is approximately $365,000.
The colt, named Nagamori Hill, is a half brother to the accomplished Lavec Kronos and Raja Mirchi. Lennart Agren's SRF Stable, known in the US for purchasing yearlings and racing such notables as Obrigado, bred the colt. The buyer was Anders Strom's Courant AB, also well known in the US for both buying yearlings and racing horses, among them Cruzado dela Noche and Tamla Celeber S.
Offspring by Muscle Hill were popular with six yearlings by the top American trotting sire bringing an average price of about $140,000.
The granddam of the sale topper also produced Carolina Reeper, who brought about $140,000 from Peter Norman. This offspring of Muscle Hill is out of Dame Lavec, a daughter of the great Kit Lobell.
Among the other top yearlings by Muscle Hill that sold, a filly was bought for about $180,000 by Forspro AB-Lerstenen. Named Galaxy AM and consigned by AM Bloodstock, she is out of She Loves You, by the French sire Love You but from a top American maternal family. She Loves You's third dam is Spawning, the dam of SJ's Caviar, and farther back the family traces to Tarport Lady Ann, the foundation for such stars as Broadway Donna, Broadway Schooner and Toss Out.
Also, four yearlings from the first crop of Trixton were sold for an average of $45,500.
However, according to reports, the average price at the sale fell by 18 percent compared to last year. A total of 52 yearlings were sold.
