Photo King has been a hard-knocking trotter his entire career and after being claimed by trainer Jeff Bamond Jr. last week, the 12 year old will look for his 44th victory Friday at the Meadowlands. In the new and free HarnessRacing Weekend Preview, Bamond explains to Gordon Waterstone why he claimed the veteran trotter.

Also, Indiana-based Walter Haynes Jr. is currently racing at Miami Valley and he talked to Kathy Parker about his stable and what he is hoping for with Amazing Arya in Friday’s Open Pace for fillies and mares. Speaking of Miami Valley, the already-tough driving colony got even tougher with the arrival of Brett Miller, who has returned to his roots after several years on the East Coast. Miller talked to Waterstone about driving strategy on the smaller oval, and Trace Tetrick talked about the addition of Miller.

Parker also talked to Diamond Creek Farm’s Adam Bowden about the upcoming breeding season, and his take can be read in the first Breeding Banter column of the year. And how about that Wally Hennessey? The Hall of Famer is approaching 10,000 wins for his career, and he talked about that—and his recent first hole in one on the golf course—with Waterstone.
