New bet system unveiled

April 29, 2004

A new self-service wagering system was recently unveiled at Dover Downs, a machine that provides the player with a wealth of information. Manufactured by United Tote, the new FastBet system allows a bettor to do things like separate tracks by breed, track betting trends, and look for overlays by displaying all possible exotic gimmick payoffs.

Future plans for the FastBet system include allowing bettors to be able to watch live racing video and take their own "snapshots" (individual pictures) during the race to look at later.

A complete record of the bettor's wagers and winnings and balance are available on the FastBet system at any time. Players deposit cash, receive a FastBet card and then make their wagers using that card. Without any paper tickets, bettors don't have to worry about losing a winning ticket.

"We had a FastBet Preview Party...and the feedback from our invited guests was very positive," said Dover Downs' harness racing manager John Hensley. "The touch-screen...is very easy to use. It really can't get any more convenient."
