New mark for Top Dog

PH Top Dog unleashed a strong brush to the lead on the turn for home and drew off to a four-length victory in 1:48.3, winning a $31,000 condition pace and giving driver Ron Pierce his fifth winner of the night at the Meadowlands..

The 5-year-old gelding posted his sixth win in his last seven starts in his Meadowlands debut. He paced a lifetime best of 1:48.3, with a last quarter in :26.2 for the Mickey Burke Stable.

Village Jate N [$7.60, $4.20] was second and there was another 5 1/2 lengths back to Y Knot [$3.80] in third.

PH Top Dog, owned by Jerome Voldock, now has nine wins, three seconds and two thirds from 27 starts this year.

Pierce also won the first race with Disco Dragon [$10.00], the fourth with Extender N [$5.00], the fifth with Premieronbroadway [$25.20] and the ninth with Up Front Ohio [$10.60]. (Meadowlands press release)
