Several races for inexperienced 3 year olds were a part of the Wednesday night card at the Meadowlands. A sloppy track slowed them down a bit, but four 3 year olds turned in the fastest winning miles of their lives.

Crazy Character, a 3-year-old colt by Shady Character, won his first start of 2004 by edging Casey's Bonanza (sired by The Panderosa) by a neck in 1:54.3. Crazy Character made six starts last season and took a mark of 1:55.3 at Pocono Downs.

Wind Storm, a filly by Presidential Ball, won from post one in 1:55.1, defeating the Camluck-sired lass Irish Luck by 2 1/2 lengths. Wind Storm made just two starts at age two and won for the second time in her 3-year-old campaign.

Six Blossom Series eligibles competed in a preview of sorts and Double Creme was the winner by a neck over Heather's Gambit in 1:54.2. Double Creme, a daughter of Albert Albert, was making her first start of the season after a 16-3-3-2 campaign with $165,175 earned as a freshman.

Hall of Fame trotting trainer Chuck Sylvester had a 3-year-old son of his Hambo winner Muscles Yankee take a new mark as well. Ripped, a gelding who made just three starts as a freshman, won his 2004 pari-mutuel debut with a 1:59.1 effort after starting from post seven. He won by a neck over the Donerail-sired Hurri Kane Billy G.
