Motivational took command at the three-quarter mile mark and held off a fast-closing Speed Mirror to win a $34,500 New Jersey Sire Stakes with a 2:00.2 effort Wednesday at Freehold Raceway.



Motivational, a daughter of Muscles Yankee, won by a neck with George Brennan in the sulky.



Two $10,000 divisions of the second leg of the NJSS Green Acres series for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings were also held on the Freehold card. The winners were Hight's Yankee Slugfest, a son of Yankee Glide, in 2:02.2 and Frank ‘N Beans, an Enjoy Lavec colt, in 2:04.
