No Lou Zing wins Progress Pace elimination
« Return to News
Supplemental entry No Lou Zing won the Progress Pace elimination at Dover Downs on Wednesday night.
Cattlewash, driven by David Miller, and No Lou Zing, handled by Dexter Dunn, left alertly at the start of the race and established early race position. Once Cattlewash cleared the lead, Dunn pulled the pocket with No Lou Zing and wrestled the lead away from Cattlewash. The quarter was reached in :26.4, with No Lou Zing continuing on the lead to the :55.2 half.
Tattoo Artist, who was a second supplement to the Progress Pace, pulled first-over. Fortify shadowed second-over for race position on the outside. The three-quarters was reached in 1:22.1--a :26.4 quarter.
Tattoo Artist began to weaken past the three-quarter pole. Cattlewash, who enjoyed the pocket journey throughout the mile, revved up his charge along the rail but could not gun down a very game No Lou Zing.
The 8-5 second choice on the toteboard, No Lou Zing (Sweet Lou) won by a half-length in 1:49.1. Cattlewash, the 4-5 favorite, was second, with Catch The Fire picking you third for Mike Wilder.
No Lou Zing is owned by 3 Brothers Stable, Rojan Stables and Caviart Farms and trained by Nancy Takter.
Also returning for the $325,000 (ear.) final on Nov. 25 are: Fortify, Captain Kirk, Captain Barbossa, Manticore and Tattoo Artist. (with files from Dover Downs)
