Nuncio, the winner of the 2014 Kentucky Futurity and 2016 Elitlopp, made his first start in three months on Thursday night at the Bollnastravet track and won in convincing fashion.
The now 7-year-old son of Andover Hall was sent to the lead early by owner-trainer-driver Stefan Melander and according to reports, the race was never in doubt. He won in a mile-time rate of 1:55.1.
Melander said Nuncio had warmed up the best ever, and finished "with plenty of power left."
Melander will now point Nuncio for the Jan. 2018 Prix d'Amerique in Paris. He has also been in discussions with Hanover Shoe Farms about standing the stallion at stud there in the future. Nuncio was bred by Hanover chairman Russell Williams.
