Ohio crowns older champions at Hollywood Dayton

Veteran Ohio-bred pacers and trotters of both genders proved fast and furious on a chilly Friday evening at Hollywood Dayton Raceway, sparing in a quartet of $85,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Championships. 
 
Weslynn Quest (5-1) held off 1-9 stablemate Pure Chance in the Mares Trot Championship, clocked in 1:54. Danny Noble drove the 4-year-old Manofmanymissions mare for trainer Chris Beaver and owner Derek Ivany of Toronto, Canada. Longshot (35-1) Heidi’s Heart was third for Josh Sutton. The victory, the 11th of her career in 32 starts, pushed Weslynn Quest’s career earnings to $245,341. 

Talkaboutaqueen (5-2) used a bold move at the half to take command and never look back in the Mares Pace Championship for driver Brett Miller. The 5-year-old mare by Oaks Enforcer is trained by Jayme Laing for Rod Allums, Jr., and now has $165,203 in her career coffers. Checks On The Way (5-2) was second for Aaron Merriman, while 1-1 Big Bad Jane was third for Danny Noble. The winner was timed in a career-equalling 1:50.4 for her effort. 

Pass The Vape, the 2-1 choice, used a near wire-to-wire journey to take the Veteran Trot in 1:54 for driver Noble and trainer Derek Watiker.  The 5-year-old altered son of Dejarmbro upped his lifetime bankroll to $432,459 for owner Lionel Ray Watiker of Zanesville, Ohio as he made his 23rd trip into the winner’s circle.  Lane Of Stone (9-5) was second, a length and a half back for Jeff Nisonger, while 2-1 Jailhouse Sam was third for Sandy Beatty.  

Sectionline Bigry, the even-money favorite, held off his eight rivals with a commanding 1:50.1 performance in the Veteran Pace for driver Tyler Smith and trainer Steve Bauder.  Owned by Harold Lee Bauder of Delaware, Ohio, the 5-year-old Pet Rock homebred collected career win 27 and now has $565,227 in lifetime earnings. Tivo Hanover (16-1) was second for Kayne Kauffman, while 2-1 Gold Digger Kingwas third for Brett Miller.
