Ohio harness tracks granted reduction in dates

The Ohio State Racing Commission on Thursday approved a reduction in harness racing dates in Ohio in 2008. The four harness tracks will race 56 less dates and 50 less programs than in 2007.
The year-round Northfield Park will race 207 dates in 2008, 10 less than this year. The Cleveland track will open Jan. 2. Scioto Downs will race 68 dates, down 12 dates from 2007, opening May 9 and closing Sept. 13.
Raceway Park was granted a reduction in dates from 100 to 84, opening April 12 and continuing through Oct. 26. Lebanon Raceway, which raced 80 dates this year, will race 62 dates in 2008, with 68 programs that includes six Saturday doubleheaders. Lebanon will open Jan. 18 through May 3, and again Sept. 19 through Dec. 27, racing solely Fridays and Saturdays.
