Ohio Sires Stakes for older mares Friday

Two $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes (OSS) for pacing and trotting mares, 4-year-olds & up, will be contested Friday night at Hollywood at Dayton Racino. Post time is approximately 6:35 pm.
Igotafeelingfran, a winner of $436,520 lifetime, headlines of field of seven pacing mares in race nine for trainer Jim Daily and driver Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. from post three as the morning line, 4-5 favorite. The 5-year-old daughter of Feelin Friskie is owned by a trio of Ohio owners, including Jerry Zosel, Kathy Ratcliff and Kimberly Dailey.
Competing in the open and high condition ranks throughout most of 2015, Igotafeelinfran has been no worse than second in her last six starts, with seasonal earnings of $66,649. Lifetime she's visited the winner's circle a total of 24 times, with 15 seconds and 14 thirds in 76 career starts, and took her lifetime mark of 1:51.1 at Scioto Downs as a 4-year-old for these same connections.


Igotafeelinfran was a multiple OSS winner at ages two and three, and captured this same event last year as a 4-year-old in 1:55 at Dayton with Dan Noble in the sulky. She won the 3-Year-Old OSS Championship on Super Night in 1:53.3 in 2013, and finished a solid third in the OSS Championship for freshman fillies in 2012. This homebred mare is the first foal out of the lightly raced Expensive Scooter mare Fran Anna p, 3, 1:56.4s ($3,400). Igotafeelinfran's siblings include her full brother, the 2-year-old gelding Gotmoneyinmypocket p, 2, 1:52.3f ($62,598) and a 3-year-old Panspacificflight gelding half-brother, Gottatigerinmytank p, 3, 1:54f ($12,560).


Among Igottafeelinfran's six rivals is her stablemate, Lady Julie (4-1, post two). Owned by Ohioans Shane Hines and Kevin Snyder, this 4-year-old daughter of Feelin Friskie sports seasonal earnings of $30,726 and career earnings of $169,227.


Bred by Elden Hall, Lady Julie was an Ohio Fair Stake (OFS) and OSS winner as a 3-year-old, and has been a solid contender in the high conditioned ranks this year. Lifetime she has seven wins, 14 seconds and nine thirds in 52 career trips postward. Lady Julie is the first of three foals out of the unraced Jenna's Beach Boy mare Jennas Lady.


Betty and Red Shaw's Victory Is Coming is the clear standout in the field of nine diagonally-gaited distaff specialists in the $50,000 OSS for older trotting mares. This seemingly indefatigable 8-year-old comes into her OSS test with a trio of consecutive victories under her belt—the last two in Open company at Northfield Park. A winner of $631,952 lifetime, Victory Is Coming will be steered by Ronnie Wrenn, Jr., from post five for trainer Ammon Hershberger in her 139th career start. She took her lifetime record at Scioto Downs on Aug. 22, 2014, clocked in 1:51 over the five-eighths mile oval in a $30,000 Open. Bred by Success Acres, Victory is coming has 59 career wins, 26 seconds and 12 thirds to her credit, and has been uber-consistent throughout her career, earning $72,000 or more every year she's competed, beginning with her 2-year-old season in 2009.


A $13,500 yearling purchase from the 2008 Ohio Select Sale, Victory Is Coming is the second of eight foals out of the Overcomer mare Norse Comer 3, 2:00h ($69,675) and has full siblings in: Carson's Victory 4, 1:59.2h ($60,475); Bettys Sam 2, 1:57.4h ($53,903); Nordic Victory 2, 2:03.3f ($32,342), etc.


Rival Jesse's Messenger and former Ohio Horse of the Year will be looking to stop Victory Is Coming in her quest for another triumph from post seven with Ryan Stahl in the sulky. Conditioned by Kent Sherman for his father Daryl Sherman, the 8-year-old Jailhouse Jesse lass has amassed $430,070 from 109 career starts, with 33 wins, nine seconds and 18 thirds.


Bred by the Hatfeld Stables and foaled March 26, 2007, at Charm, Ohio, Jesse's Messenger is the third of nine foals out of the Carry The Message mare Laser Message 4, 2:02.4h ($50,533), and is a full sister to Oh So So 3, 2:00.2h ($9,918)and a half-sister to the Master Lavec gelding Diesel Fuel 7, 1:57f, a 19-race winner of $124,447.


Championship events for aged pacing and trotting horses & geldings will be contested at Hollywood at Dayton Racino on Saturday, Oct. 24. (Ohio Standardbred Development Fund)
