Ontario adds new alcohol and drug policy in 2008

The Ontario Racing Commission has announced that beginning Jan. 1 a new alcohol and drug policy will be instituted, which includes the addition of person who work in \"safety sensitive positions\" to also be tested.
 
The following is the list of those Standardbred participants who will be subject to be tested:
 
Blacksmith
Driver
Groom
Horse identifier
Judges
Official Veterinarian
Outrider
Paddock judge
Starting gate personnel
Test Inspector/TC02 Tech
Trainer

Testing (now using a swab of saliva for drugs) will be conducted to determine the presence of:

Cannabinoids (marijuana) 
Amphetamine/ methamphetamine (ICE, Crystal meth) 
Cocaine 
Opiates (heroin) 
Phencyclidine (PCP) 
Oxycodone 
Percodan 
Alcohol–Note new level, with fines and suspensions now starting with blood alcohol levels of .02-.04 (with files from ORC)
