There was action aplenty in the Harrah's Philly feature on Friday afternoon. A field of eight upper-conditioned distaff pacers battled for a purse of $22,000 on a rainy afternoon just south of Philadelphia.
The public put their support behind Jeff Bamond Jr trainee Rockaround Sue (Tim Tetrick) who was coming off of a solid outing against tougher from the outside at Yonkers. She was involved in a contested early tempo Friday, leading after a much disputed half-mile. That's when 20-time winner Mach A Wish (Corey Callahan) made a push for the lead. These two battled at three-quarters with Ron Burke trainee Magic Starlight (Yannick Gingras) drafting behind Mach A Wish. In the stretch however, the battle took its toll on the leaders.
Longshot hopeful Ooh Bad Shark (Allan Davis) swung wide off cover to storm by for the improbable win, stopping the clock in 1:53.2 (27.4 last quarter). The 7-year-old daughter of Cam's Card Shark came from seventh at the top of the stretch to win for the 24th time in her career, pushing her earnings to just under $400,000. Mach a Wish finished second, while Magic Starlight was third. Ooh Bad Shark is owned by Donna Fedorak and trainer Bill Wiggins. She paid $70.80 to win. (Harrah's Philadelphia)
