Pair of series get underway at Mohawk

The Summertime Pacing Series and Whenuwishuponastar Pacing Series kicked off Thursday evening at Mohawk.
A trio of $20,000 Summertime Pacing Series divisions took place featuring 3-year-old colt pacers who are non-winners of two races or $10,000 as of March 31, 2012. In the first split, JJ Shark and Long Live Rock finished in a dead heat, timed in 1:52.3.
Fiesty Flyer (Scott Zeron) was the tempo-setter through panels of :27.1, :56.3 and 1:25.2, before the pocket-sitter, JJ Shark (Doug McNair) and Long Live Rock, who was sitting third, angled to the outside down the stretch and were inseparable at the wire. Fiesty Flyer finished third.
The post time favorite, Long Live Rock increased his lifetime earnings to $34,517 for trainer Jeff Gillis and owners James Stambaugh and Milton Leeman. He paid $2.10 to win as the favorite.
JJ Shark is trained by Tony Alagna for owners John Krall and Joseph Hemingway. The son of Cam's Card Shark increased his bankroll to $19,562, while paying $6.90 to win.
In the second division, Terrorist Alert and Scott Zeron came from off the pace to stop the timer in 1:52.
Zeron was in no hurry from the start as Who Dat Love (Luc Ouellette) front-stepped past fractions of :28, :56.1 and 1:24.1 before Terrorist Alert angled to the outside down the stretch from third and marched past the tempo-setter to secure the win. Who Dat Love stayed for second, over I Wanna Be Geared (Randy Waples).
The son of Western Terror increased his bankroll to $54,300 for trainer Tim Pinske and owner Pinske Stables. He paid $9.50 to win.
In the third and final division, Partner and Scott Zeron were first to the wire in 1:52.2, a new lifetime best.
The son of Ponder sat in the pocket for most of the mile through panels of :27.4, :57 and 1:25.1, before scoring the narrow win over the tempo-setter and post time favorite, Spinerama (Jody Jamieson). Sunny Beach Day (Anthony MacDonald) finished third.
Trained by Casie Coleman for owners, West Wins Stable, Good Time Stable, Joe LaCova and John Campagnuolo, Partner increased his lifetime earnings to $41,780. He paid $15.90 to win.
The second leg of the Summertime Pacing Series continues on Friday, July 20.
Also on the program, a pair of Whenuwishuponastar Series divisions, featuring 2-year-old pacing fillies, took place with Parlee Beach and Charisma Hanover finding the winner's circle.
In the first division, Parlee Beach extended her unbeaten streak to two as she stopped the timer in 1:54.2.
The homebred daughter of Somebeachsomewhere sat in the pocket for most of the mile through panels of :28.1, :57.2 and 1:26.4, before sprinting home in :27.1 to notch the win. Social Scene (Zeron) finished second with Belle Boyd (Jamieson) third.
Trained by Bob McIntosh for owner-breeder Pat Ryan, Parlee Beach increased her rookie earnings to $19,000. She paid $4.10 to win as the favorite.
In the second and final division, Charisma Hanover and Steve Condren stopped the timer in 1:54.3.
The daughter of Dragon Again over took the lead past the opening station in :29 and never looked back as she marched past the half in :59 and three quarters in 1:28.1 before dashing away on her rivals to score the win. The pocket-sitter, Breathtakingbeauty (Randy Waples), finished second, with first-over attacker and post time favorite, L Dees Lioness (Zeron) finished third.
With the first victory in her career, Charisma Hanover increased her rookie earnings to $14,500 for trainer Clark Beelby and owner 8113564 Canada Ltd. She paid $9.10 to win.
