Well-known harness racing photographer Monica Thors drove in her first race in 10 years Thursday afternoon at Freehold Raceway and finished fourth with a 6-year-old trotting mare named Missy Anne.

"I took on two horses that nobody else wanted," said Thors of her stable. "This horse has really come along. Next week I'll drive her better. I'll know where I'm going; I'm going to the front! She's that good."

Winning the $3,800 conditioned trot was Rock’N’Rye Russ, a 9-year-old gelded son of Giant Victory. With Marcus Johansson driving for trainer Rick La Barbera, Rock’N’Rye Russ won by two lengths over Give A Toot in 2:03. Ellianna was third while Thors’ Missy Anne, fifth across the wire, was moved up a spot because of a breaking rival across the wire.

Also at Freehold on Thursday, Majestic Eagle won the $36,200 Swing Back final for 3-year-old pacing fillies. With Cat Manzi in the bike, Majestic Eagle crossed the wire in 1:55.2 to remain perfect in seven starts this year after not making an appearance last year at two.

Trained by Dave Elliott, Majestic Eagle has worked her way up the class ladder at Freehold, winning on every rung. Owned by Joseph Spoto of Hamilton, N.J., she has career earnings of $31,300 after her latest victory.
