Dan Patch Award winner Pizza Dolce cruised to a two-length victory in the first of three Kentucky Sire Stakes eliminations for 3-year-old filly trotters at The Red Mile Friday night (Sept. 5).

With David Miller driving, Pizza Dolce followed the live cover of rival Delmartha (Mike Lachance) down the backstretch before taking the lead heading into the final turn. From there the daughter of Conway Hall was in complete control, crossing the wire in 1:55.1.

Armbro Affair and driver Jay Picciano gave a game effort to finish second, with Tasty Chip and trainer-driver Jimmy Takter third. Delmartha had to settle for fourth and a spot in the Sire Stakes consolation as only the top three in each of the elims will return for next Friday's (Sept. 12) final.

For Pizza Dolce, who won last fall's Lexington Breeders Classic as a 2 year old, the effort was her second in seven starts this year and equaled her career best.
