Harnessracing.com has learned Gabe Prewitt, the current announcer at The Red Mile who also served in the same capacity the last couple of years at Buffalo Raceway, has been hired as the new announcer at Pompano Park, which will resume racing on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Prewitt also serves as the executive director of the Kentucky Harness Horsemen's Association, a position that will not be affected by his new job at the southern Florida racetrack.

Although Prewitt will turn over the announcing duties to Sam McKee for the two-week Grand Circuit meet that begins Sept. 26 and runs through Oct. 6, he will be handling the interview duties from the winner's circle. Prewitt told harnessracing.com that John Berry will be in the announcer's booth at Pompano until he arrives within a week or two.

At the same time, Buffalo Raceway has issued a release noting it was looking for a track announcer for the 2014 meet running January through July.
