Precious Beauty p, 2, 1:53.3, a winner of a Kentucky Standardbred Sales Company Stakes at Indiana Downs last summer, won a qualifier at The Red Mile Tuesday morning.

With Steve Wallter driving for owner Jim Avritt, Precious Beauty turned in a 1:58.2 effort over the red clay oval. The daughter of Jate Lobell had started in two previous qualifiers at the Meadowlands in March, but Avritt decided to bring her back home to Kentucky.

"She had trained in 59 and a piece when I sent her to the Remmens, but she just didn't want to pace much up there," said Avritt. "I had planned to race her in the Blossom Series, but instead I brought her home and now she's being treated for ulcers and she's going to get a little extra turn-out time. We know she's got speed and she's sound."

Finishing second in the race was Ms. Pininfarina, a 3-year-old daughter of Jenna's Beach Boy-Stienam's Girl. Mark Evers trains and drives this filly.
