The first leg of the Willowdale Pacing Series for 4 year olds got underway at Woodbine Saturday night and Predator DVM showed he\'s much more than a New York Sire Stakes champion. The son of Bettor\'s Delight won the Willowdale opener with a handy 2 1/2-length score in 1:51.3.

Mark Ford trains Predator DVM for Dean Davis and Jim Snyder, who bought the horse for $125,000 at Harrisburg last fall. Ed Hart previously trained the horse, who won the New York Sire Stakes 3-Year-Old Colt & Gelding Pace in September at Saratoga in 1:52.1.

Mister Big, the runner-up in the Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Colt & Gelding Pace last fall, finished second for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. while Stormaway was third and Alastor Hanover took fourth. Eagle Luck, the early pacesetter, faded to fifth.
