Making his first start for new owner Michael Polansky, the 2-year-old pacing colt Pujols set a Hawthorne Racecourse track record Wednesday night with a 1:53.3 effort. Harmer moved Pujols past early leader Nik The Nuke (Tim Tetrick) at the opening quarter and held off that one by 3 ½ lengths.

Now trained and driven by Tom Harmer, Pujols was purchased following a second-place finish at Balmoral Park last month. Prior to that the son of Cole Muffler had won a qualifier at Du Quoin, Ill., by 16 lengths in 1:56.2.
