Quinton Patterson dies

Quinton Patterson, 83, the grandstand maintenance manager at The Meadows, died of an apparent heart attack suffered at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 5.

His long handshakes, everlasting whistle and warm smile were staples at The Meadows since 1961, when he worked on the crew that built the track. He also brought the blanket of orchids to the winner\'s circle for presentation to the Adios champion, and put the blanket on the horse.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, Peters Township, Pa., 15317 at 11:00 am Friday, Dec. 8. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 7 to 9 pm at at the Beinhauer Funeral Home. The Meadows will hold a moment of remembrance at 6:30 pm during this Saturday’s racing program.
