The 2004 Horse of the Year Rainbow Blue will make her first start of the 2005 season Monday night, April 11, as she takes on six rivals in a $50,000 Invitational Pace at Dover Downs.

Rainbow Blue has drawn post five in the field and trainer and co-owner George Teague Jr. has once again named Ron Pierce, voted the 2004 Driver of the Year, to drive. Among her rivals is Dover Downs' 2004 Horse of the Meet Crossfire N, who will have Mike Cole in the sulky.

The rest of the ninth-race field includes Ann Other Porsche, Cam's Little Imp N, Tawny, Clock Watcher and House Flight.

Monday has also been designated "Rainbow Blue Day in Delaware" by Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, honoring the great mare and her owners Teague, his sister, Brenda, and Kevin and Ron Fry.

Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway and the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association are collaborating in making Rainbow Blue Day a memorable one for her fans. A Rainbow Blue T-Shirt, a Rainbow Blue commemorative mug and a beautiful color photo of Rainbow Blue suitable for framing will be given to fans in attendance.
