Two Weeks Notice set a new stakes record of 1:54 in capturing the featured $80,000 Horse & Groom final Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands. The previous stakes record of 1:54.1 was set by Mohammed Mali in 2005.

With driver Ron Pierces at the lines, Two Weeks Notice battled first up around the backside and took off in the stretch to win by 5 1/2 lengths over CR Dream Catcher who edged out Big Bruiser in third.

“I was just a passenger,” Pierce said from the winner’s circle. “I just sat there. The horse did all the work. Ray and Larry (Remmen) did a great job getting him ready and aiming him for this race. He was really good this afternoon. He threw a shoe around the first turn. I was concerned but it didn’t seem to bother him. He is a very nice horse. He is good gaited and covers the ground real well. I knew I had a shot of winning. (Striking Mystery) I was concerned about how much he had left in his tank but I knew mine had plenty.”

Trained by the Ray Remmen stable, the 6-year-old gelded son of Yankee Glide notched his third victory of the year in his fifth start and increased his career earnings to $173,387 for owners Jason and Matt Sullinger of Lexington, Ky. (Meadowlands)
