Red Hot Scandal saved all the ground, then fired through the Lightning Lane to capture Saturday’s $22,500 Preferred Pace (winners over $10,000 life) The Meadows in a sharp 1:50.4, lowering his lifetime mark a full second.
Red Hot Scandal and trainer-driver Brian Zendt were content to sit third behind Biletnikoff and Here We Go Again, who were strong enough to repel the outside challengers. When Here We Go Again tried to pass Biletnikoff outside in the lane, Red Hot Scandal shot through inside. The 5-year-old Real Artist-Scandalize gelding negotiated the back half in :54.3 en route to his half-length victory over Biletnikoff while Here We Go Again saved show.
