Red Mile returns to days

December 07, 2003

« Return to News
The Red Mile has announced it will return to an all-afternoon schedule for the two-week Grand Circuit stop in 2004, with the Kentucky Futurity moving back to the closing day card on Saturday, Oct. 9. The past few years the track had raced the first week during the day and then the second week under the lights.

The Kentucky Futurity had traditionally been held the last day of the meet until two years ago when it was moved up a week. The Futurity will now highlight a program that will also have the Tattersalls Pace for 3 year olds on the undercard.

The Tattersalls Select Yearling Sale will also shift from the first week of Grand Circuit to the second. The sale will be held during the evenings Thursday through Saturday nights, Oct. 7-9, and during the day on Sunday, Oct. 10. Kentucky Standardbred Sales Company released its sales dates earlier, and is presently scheduled to sell the afternoons of Sunday, Oct. 3, through Tuesday, Oct. 5.

The Red Mile, which will open its fall meet in early August, will begin its Grand Circuit stand on Monday, Sept. 28.
