Hall of Fame driver Ray Remmen guided Bar Exam to a neck victory over Hurri Kane Billy G in a $25,600 New Jersey Sire Stakes, Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

The Mighty Mr K set the pace but faded to third, a length and three-quarters back.

Bar Exam split horses to get up in the final strides for his second win in five starts this year. The 3-year-old son of Self Possessed, owned by James A. Petruccelli, trotted the mile in 1:55. Remmen and his brother, Larry, are the colt'strainers.

Remmen, making only his fourth driving start of the meet, holds the distinction of being one of only three drivers (with Cat Manzi and Jim Doherty) who have driven a winner every year since the Meadowlands opened in 1976.

In two other New Jersey Sire Stakes divisions, winning efforts were turned in by Enflammatory and Real Leader.

Enflammatory, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Trond Smedshammer, caught Beissinger Hanover in the last eighth of the mile to win in 1:56.2. Face Off got up for third, 2 1/2 lengths back.

The victory was the first in five starts this year for Enflammatory who also has two seconds and two thirds to his credit. Unraced at two, the son of Enjoy Lavec races for the American Viking Racing Stable, Patricia Spinelli, Martha Frank and Ted Gewertz.

Longshot Real Leader, driven by Stephen Smith and trained by Karen Garland, caught Show Me The Monet for a half-length victory in the $25,600 third division. Jailhouse Joey was third by three-quarters of a length.

Real Leader, owned by the C&I Siegel Racing Stable Ltd., trotted the mile in a lifetime best 1:55.3.
