Multiple news organizations in Florida have reported that Florida State Senate Appropriations Chair Tom Lee (R-Brandon) has said the gaming bill that would allow tracks to "decouple," and in particular Pompano Park to discontinue harness racing but still have gaming and simulcasting, is not going to be addressed by his committee. That means the entire deal with the Seminoles, which would put $3 billion in the state's coffers over a period of time, is being postponed as well. The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel said Lee gave no reason why the bill would not be addressed by the Appropriations Committee, "but in all likelihood it lacked the votes to pass."

If there is no gaming bill passed in the current legislative session, which ends in March, the Seminoles will still be sending money to the state under the old agreement signed under then-Gov. Charlie Crist.
