Quif de Villeneuve, a son of Coktail Jet, won the 750,000 euro Prix du Cornelier, France's most prestigious race for trotters being ridden, or "monte," Sunday afternoon at the Vincennes track in Paris. The winner of the race receives an automatic invitation to next Sunday's Prix d'Amerique.
There were many lead changes during the race, and Quif de Villeneuve defeated the field that included 2010 Prix d'Amerique winner Oyonnax. With Yoann Lebourgeois in the saddle, Quif de Villeneuve's winning time was a mile rate of 1:56.
