In addition to the Matt's Scooter final, two overnight condition races at the Meadowlands on Saturday night featured 3-year-old winners. Rock N Roll Heaven won the third race on the card in 1:51.1 and Fred And Ginger won race 7 in 1:51.2.
Rock N Roll Heaven, a colt by Rocknroll Hanover out of Artistic Vision, made his first start of the year and controlled the race for the victory. Daniel Dube drove the colt, as usual, for trainer Bruce Saunders and owner Frank Bellino. Last year the colt finished first or second in eight of nine starts, and third in his only other appearance. He took his lifetime mark of 1:50.2 at The Red Mile.
Fred And Ginger, a son of Real Artist, was also making his first start of the season and scored by a comfortable 3 3/4-length margin over older horses. Tim Tetrick handled the driving assignment for trainer Ron Burke. Last year Fred And Ginger won two of nine starts and took a mark of 1:52.4f at The Meadows.
