Rusty's Treasure, Bullet Of Fire prevail at Dover

Rusty’s Treasure and 17-1 Bullet Of Fire won the twin features on a longshot-filled Saturday afternoon, Jan. 19 at Dover Downs.
Eddie Davis Jr. won the first of his two high-price payoffs steering Rusty’s Treasure to a 1:56.2 victory in the Delaware-distaff half of two $12,000 4&5-Year-Old paces. It was the second straight win for the four-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Kabbalah owned by David King and E&K Stables. Non Pareil (Art Stafford Jr.) was the second finisher. Act Of Magic (Tony Morgan) took show honors.
Ursula Berndt’s Bullet Of Fire pulled an upset in the $12,000 Male 4&5-Year-Old pace. With Allan Davis in the bike, the Western Terror-Shot Of Love gelding roared past favorite Its Rock N Roll (Brad Hanners) for a 1:55 score. Mississippi Hippy (Ross Wolfenden) finished third ending a two-race win streak.
Tune A Fish, also owned by the J&E Stable, was Eddie Davis Jr.’s other longshot win. This one came in 1:55 taking in a Delaware $7,500 Male Claiming race.
The longest price of the day came when Jon Roberts streaked home first with Pat Mitchell’s B A Lady in 1:53.3 winning a Delaware $10,000 Claiming pace at 26-1 on the board.
One of George Dennis’ two wins came piloting owner-trainer Real Ideal to a 1:55.2 victory at 7-1 odds in a $7,500 Delaware Claiming pace. Another 7-1 winner was Howard and Linda Dege’s Osceola Gold in 1:54 with Tony Morgan in a Delaware $10,000 Claiming pace.
