Ryan Anderson, the second-leading driver among the Balmoral Park driving colony in 2007, will be on the shelf through the start of the 2008 racing season after suffering a broken femur in a race spill Sunday night at the track.
The three-horse incident occurred toward the back of the field in Sunday’s first race and also involved drivers Art Gregory Jr. and Brandon Simpson. Those two, and all three horses involved in this mishap, managed to escape serious injury but Anderson was stepped on by the trailing horse resulting in the broken femur.
The 27-year-old Crete, Ill. resident was transported from Balmoral Park to Olympia Fields Medical Center where was treated for the broken femur. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available. (Balmoral Park)
