Favored Sagebrush and Danel Dube completed their sweep of the Four Leaf Clover Series with a stakes record 1:50.3 mile in the $120,000 final Saturday night (March 20) at the Meadowlands.

Sagebrush, a 5-year-old son of Western Hanover, took over just before the :55.2 half then opened two lengths on the field after a three quarters in 1:22.3. Medoland Big Sam (David Miller) made a late surge to get within one-half length of the winner at the wire. Image Of Dawn (Pat Lachance) was third.

The victory was the fourth this year in 11 starts and put the stallion over the $350,000 plateau in lifetime earnings for trainer Ken Rucker, who is a co-owner with Catrina Rucker and Martin Engel.

Earlier in the evening at the Meadowlands, Eaton Road Kill was untested in capturing the $40,000 Open Pace. Dube was at the lines as the 6-year-old Cambest gelding got away with modest early fractions, then sprinted home under a snug hold in :26.4 for a 1:51 victory. Life Source (Catello Manzi) was second and Whosurboy (Jim Morell Jr.) third.

This was Eaton Road Kill's ninth score in 10 starts this year for trainer Mark Harder and owner Greg Pistochini.
