With the Breeders Crown races set for later this month at the Meadowlands, Mark Ford, president of the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey, has issued the following statement: "The Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey would like to clarify that while bringing the Breeders Crown races to the Meadowlands this fall costs $900,000, of that amount, $750,000 is coming out of the horsemen's purse account.
"Since Breeders Crown events historically have generated strong wagering, with handle on the two Crown programs at the Meadowlands in 2014 topping $7.1 million, we are hopeful that this year's Breeders Crown will be a big success for the track, and the horsemen, from a business standpoint."
Ford also noted that purses for the New Jersey Sires Stakes are in place for the 2017 racing season. (SBOANJ)
