Scape Ghost stamped himself the one to beat in next week’s $81,500 Junior Trendsetter final with a decisive 1:52 score in the second round of the series on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

Driven by Brian Sears, Scape Ghost sat off an early speed duel before seizing the lead down the backstretch.  He drew off to a 3 ¼-length tally over My Masterpiece for his second series win. A game Dax Hanover closed for third after an early battle for the front.

The 3-year-old son of Artiscape races for the Delaware-based partnership of trainer Kenneth Mitchell and Rodney Mitchell Inc. Scape Ghost was a $24,000 yearling purchase at the 2006 New Jersey Classic Sale.

Anais Kicker closed along the pylons to take the second Junior Trendsetter division in 1:53.1 for trainer Bruce Lauer.

The top 10 money-earners in the series advance to the $81,500 Junior Trendsetter final on Saturday, Feb. 23. One of three stakes on the card that night, it shares the spotlight with the $75,700 Exit 16W and $71,800 Aquarius. (Meadowlands)
