Secret Express wins again

Secret Express, the undefeated Indiana Sire Stakes champion at Hoosier Park, picked up where he left off, winning the first leg of the Sire Stakes for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters at Indiana Downs Sunday afternoon (July 4) in 1:58.1.



Fred Finn was in the bike as the Keep It A Secret colt scored his sixth straight victory in as many lifetime starts.



Nine of the 11 races on the Independence Day card were devoted to Indiana Sire Stakes for freshman colts, four on the trot and five for pacers. The other trot winners were Matoaka’s Warrior (Elan Spur) in 1:59.2 for trainer Arild Eggen, Bigboybyetsem (Bye Tsem) in 2:01.3 for Doug Rideout and Donerail Joe (Super Ben Joe) in 2:02.3 for Jay Cross.



The pace winners were Camn Yankee (Electric Yankee) in 1:56.3 for Trent Bates, John Laag (Mark Johnathan) in 1:57.1 for Willie Schwartz, Can Be Harmful (Dirk Almahurst) in 1:57.2 for Charlie Conrad, Lekrem Bluegrass (Dorunrun Bluegrass) in 1:58.3 for Dan Shetler and Selfish Storm (Storm Damage) in 2:00.2 for Joe Essig Jr.
