Shartin N qualifies in 1:50.1 at Dover

Shartin N, the 2019 Horse Of The Year, qualified Wednesday morning at Dover Downs. The track was fast with overcast skies and the temperature was 72 degrees.
Driver Tim Tetrick sent Shartin N quickly to the top. The race fractions were :27.3, :56.4 and 1:24.2, with the mare finishing the mile in 1:50.1. The mare won by 18 1/2 lengths, under wraps.
Jim King Jr. was ecstatic and confident after the race. He commented, "Last half in :53.2, last quarter in :25.4. She's ready."
The mare had been battling a quarter crack. She finished second to Kissin In The Sand in the Breeders Crown Mare Pace at Harrah's Hoosier Park.
When asked about Shartin N's next races, co-owner Jo Anne Looney-King said, "probably the TVG at the Meadowlands and possibly the Matchmaker-eligibles race at Yonkers. (Dover)
