The Hambletonian may be the sport’s pinnacle, but on Hambo Day, Shartin N stole the show. The dominating pacer established a new standard Saturday, August 3 at The Meadowlands in winning the $183,500 Lady Liberty TVG free-for-all for older pacing mares, sponsored by SBOANJ/TrotPac. Steered by Tim Tetrick, the six-year-old Tintin In America-Bagdarin mare set a track, stakes and world record when she stopped the timer in a sizzling 1:46.4.

Apple Bottom Jeans and Corey Callahan may have received the first call, but Tetrick wasted little time placing favored Shartin N on the front. The Dan Patch Award winner proceeded to set fractions of :53.4 and 1:21 before blasting away from the field in the stretch to earn her second straight Lady Liberty. The Jim King Jr. charge turned in an awesome display, winning comfortably over runner-up Caviart Ally and Shower Play.

Owned by Richard Poillucci, Jo Ann Looney-King and Tim Tetrick LLC, the six year old pacer scored her 12th win in 13 seasonal starts. She also notched her 38th career win in 50 starts. The winning time eclipsed Shebestingin’s 1:47 clocking at Lexington in 2013 and Put On A Show’s Meadowlands mark from 2012. Harness racing’s fastest female pacer now possesses a bankroll of just under $1.9 million. She returned $2.60, $2.10 and $2.10 as the favorite.
