With the forecast calling for -5 degree Fahrenheit temperatures during racing hours and wind chill forecasts from a low of -17 to as high as -30, this action was taken to protect the well-being of the horses and participants.
The draw for Sunday's program will take place today on schedule. Horses that were scheduled to race tonight are welcome to reenter for Sunday if the class they want exists on the condition sheet. The box closes at 1 p.m.
Due to extreme cold temperatures and wind chill, the Thursday card of live Standardbred racing at Woodbine has been canceled. The qualifiers scheduled for Thursday afternoon will now move to Friday, February 20 at 3:30 p.m.
The second leg of the Miss Vera Bars series, originally scheduled for Thursday's card, has been canceled. Any horse that entered the first or second leg of the series will be eligible to the final on Thursday, Feb. 26.

The Meadows Racetrack & Casino has canceled Thursday's card due to frigid conditions. The track and its Harmar location remain open for simulcast viewing and wagering. Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday, first post 12:55 p.m.
Also, due to extreme cold weather in northeast Ohio with wind chills expected to approach -30 degrees, Northfield Park has canceled its Thursday race card.
Northfield will be open Thursday at 4 p.m. for full-card simulcasting. Live racing will resume on Monday, Feb. 23, with a 6 pm post time.
Also, due to high voltage power issues on the Hamburg Fairgrounds, Buffalo Raceway has moved first post for Friday (Feb. 20) and Saturday (Feb. 21) to 2:30 p.m.
"Unfortunately we were forced to cancel the last six races Wednesday night. At this time, we don't know the status of the power issues that affect the track lights. The horsemen are prepared to race and we want to make 100 percent certain that they do,” said COO Jim Mango.
